I’ve had mixed experiences in the last 2 years with this. In January when I went I always walked by a suuuuper long single rider line. When are they opening it these days?

We didn't pay attention last week to when the single rider line opened unfortunately but in the past it has been not before 10AM. My DH did single rider on Space last Friday and I think Saturday. His wait in line tended to be 20-30 minutes with a standby line that varied between 45 and 60 minutes. We have noticed that many more people use Space Mountain single rider than used to now that the signage is more prominent and it is more obvious where to wait.

Yeah, it seems funny that way and hard to judge. I was there early last month and had a LL for Space Mtn at about 10 or so. Got on pretty quickly and as we were exiting I didn't see anyone in single rider line. So we hopped on in to give it a try and there was NOBODY ahead of us. We walked right on! Later that day (mid-afternoon) I thought we'd try it again. Didn't think we'd walk on this time, but was hoping for at least a short single rider line.... nope. Saw it was now snaking way out of the building and looked to have hundreds of people in it. We didn't bother. :confused3

In general the longer the stand by line the longer the single rider line will be. Not just because it is busier but because more groups will use the single rider to (hopefully) have much shorter wait time. Unfortunately, it doesn't always work out that way.

When I was there last May the single rider line was really hit or miss if it was open or more times than not it was pretty backed up.

There is some truth to the Disneyland after work crowd. Since many more locals go to Disneyland I have found that sometimes those single rider lines get longer in the evening..
