My family was out at the pool during our current stay at Boulder Ridge Villas. At about 7pm the alarms went off and the building was evacuated. Very little information has been available during the incident but we were finally allowed to return at about 10:30.

Cast members asked as we approached for room numbers. The lobby was blocked and only access to an elevator bank was allowed. Certain rooms were escorted up to access the damage. I am not certain how much total damage has been done but seen some people being moved out immediately.

Certainly this is impacting people here but also will likely impact reservations for some time

Anyone have more information on this fire, extent of damage, and how many people were displaced? I found one article online, but can't share the link and it didn't have much info

At brv now for one night in a studio now.
Everything is open, but industrial fans all in the lobby area on every floor it appears.

By all accounts I've heard or read so far, it sounds like it was either a very small, localized fire in a room (like maybe a battery exploding on a counter) that then triggered the sprinkler system - or a system malfunction or manual trigger of the sprinklers (intentional or not) caused the common area sprinklers and alarm to trigger. I would imagine little or no fire damage to any rooms or the resort as a whole, but the sprinklers would have made a mess of floors and carpets. Since the tall lobby likely has some powerful sprinklers and high volume, it may have caused water to run under the doors of the rooms on the lobby (if sprinklers didn't go off INSIDE the guest rooms themselves). I think if all guest room sprinklers went off, nobody would be allowed back in - so my guess is the main sprinklers were triggered in common areas, which caused water damage in the lobby adjacent rooms, but maybe spared any interior damage to the hallway rooms.

I counted 6 rooms with the doors open on floors 2 and 3.
Industrial fans in the lobby circle on 2 and 3 as well.

It was definitely a fire. Not only did we smell something before leaving to go to the pool (we thought it may be a camp fire initially) but cast members confirmed multiple times before we were allowed to go back in and after.
